On the 18 July, Japan Automobile Federation (JAF) and Bridgestone held a joint press conference to introduce the Make Cars Green campaign to the national media.

The event brought together 47 individuals from 36 media organisations, informing them about the major elements of the campaign and enabling them to experience some of the "10 points for greener motoring". During the press conference, Bridgestone explained its conservation efforts with a focus on the importance of preserving a safe environment for future generations, and stated its future plans to help promote the Make Cars Green campaign worldwide.

This was then complemented by JAF, which explained how it educates drivers about more eco-friendly and fuelefficient driving techniques through club activities such as eco-training. To demonstrate this further the press conference was followed by an Eco-driving workshop. Each media organisation was given the opportunity to participate in the workshop in which JAF staff members acted as instructors. Participants learnt tips on fuel-efficient driving and the important of role of tyres, which can make a considerable impact through rolling resistance. On average the fuel efficiency of participants was calculated to have improved by 14.3 per cent after training.
