The Barbados Automobile Association (BAA) officially launched Make Cars Green in the country with a presentation of the campaign booklet to Environment Minister Esther Byer-Suckoo at the Ministry of the Environment on 27 June.
BAA President John Sealy said the Association is enthusiastic about the opportunity to have Barbados and its motorists benefit as a result of the islandís participation in the international campaign. He said: "One of the objects of our Association is to protect and advance the legitimate interests of all owners and drivers of motor vehicles in Barbados. We, along with our partners, are pleased that we are assisting in Barbados being a part of the 'Make Cars Green' worldwide promotion, facilitated by the FIA and generously sponsored by Bridgestone Tyres internationally and Nassco Ltd in Barbados." The following Sunday, 56,000 leaflets were inserted in the islands largest single day issue newspaper The Sunday Sun and since then a further 15,000 have been delivered to the largest bank, a supermarket chain, an insurance company and the governmentrun Transport Board (bus company).
